Charity, Fundraising and Volunteering

We’re delighted to announce that for the 2023/24 year, our official charity is SRASAC (Sheffield Rape and Sexual Assault Centre).

This charity offers legal and mental support to victims of sexual assault and rape in Sheffield

The Guardians’ recent figures have shown that 97% of young women have been victims of sexual harassment. As well as being an important cause for many of our members, this figure highlights the importance of supporting such an impactful charity.

Whilst we still plan to raise money for various different charities throughout the year, we are happy to have our main charity as SRASAC.

Check out our charity events from the past years!

Previous years:

Mental health is a huge issue in universities across the country.

Sheffield Sabrecats aim to help tackle it through getting involved in campaigns to raise awareness around mental health and promoting exercise and wellbeing.

In 2017/18, through our bake sales, 24 hour cycle-a-thon and themed trainings, we raised around £500 for our charity partner Mind UK.

In 2019, we were involved in the Mental Health Foundation’s 2019 body image campaign to encourage a positive self-image.

Members of our club can be supported by our Welfare Secretary, Asha Stobbart. Any concerns our cheerleaders may have, either within or externally to cheer, Asha can be a confidential and approachable point of contact.
